You can now obtain your MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) services at NeuroCare Center. We have worked hard to bring services on-site to provide you with the most convenient experience possible.
Our 1.5T MRI is one of the most advanced and comprehensive methods of testing available. It uses a magnetic field, radio waves and computer photographic techniques to obtain clear pictures of areas of the body. A typical procedure averages 30 minutes depending on the type of information required by your physician. If your exam involves the use of an intravenous contrast dye, you may feel a brief sensation of heat or experience a metallic taste in your mouth, but this is rare and causes no harm.
Once the examination has begun you will hear a knocking sound that represents the changes in the magnetic field that are a normal part of the imaging process. You will need to remain very still. You will be provided with headphones to listen to music during the scan. At the conclusion of the exam, the technologist will assist you out of the scan room. During your MRI examination, a technologist will be able to see and communicate with you at all times.
Don't wear anything with metal, such as belts, jewelry, etc. Some make-up contains metal. Do not wear make-up for your exam. You will have to remove hearing aids and eye glasses. If you are being pre-medicated with an anti-anxiety medication, you will need to be driven to and from your scan. There is no special preparation required prior to the MRI. You may eat normally and continue to take any medications prescribed by your doctor unless otherwise directed.
Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow for completion of necessary paperwork. Upon arriving at our facility you will be asked to complete a patient questionnaire about your medical history and symptoms. Our technologist will review the questionnaire with you. Please let the technologist know if you are unable to lie still for at least 30 minutes.
